My name is Maitha Al Ansari, I am an Emarati/Saudi fashion designer and the founder of Maitha Al Ansari, a ready to wear Abaya brand since 2013. I have a degree in Fashion and textile design from the University Of Sharjah and I am also the co-founder of House of 45, the first concept store in Sharjah. " I created this brand for women to feel confident as modest dressers and not feel limited when they wear an abaya . " After experiencing the world of fashion during my years at university I felt I wanted to create a brand close to my roots and provide a solution to the everyday Arab woman. I created my brand for modest women who wanted an alternative to the traditional black abaya, not a coverup for the outfit underneath but an outfit in itself. My vision was to create an Abaya that could be worn from day to night. A piece of garment that was not meant to hang only to be worn on a special occasion but to be something that every woman can reach for to always feel confident. After launching my brand I wanted to create a platform where designers in the UAE could come together and display their work, learn and teach each other and further their reach in the industry. This is when I co-founded House of 45, a concept store in Sharjah where we stock designers and hold special events and collaborations. My work is all about giving confidence to women in what they wear. Each collection I create is about something I am passionate about, from selecting the finest fabrics all the way from countries like Japan and Korea to the final details in each of the Abaya, it is all part of what I love creating. My background in textile design is also a part of each of my collections as I feel each fabric and carefully select the elements in my designs.
